We tried, we will try again and a massive thank you to everyone who knocked on doors and tried really hard to offer an alternative future where people don’t feel genuinely scared of the Prime Minister of this country. The sun will come up tomorrow, people will learn but please if nothing else listen to people’s fears, I’ve seen just one black person in my circle say they were voting Conservative and no friends with European citizens as family which means many of us fear Boris Johnson and his leadership. If your vote wasn’t about supporting a racist then lean in to our fears stand up for people when you see abuse happening because mark my words, just like in American people will feel emboldened by this election result. I certainly don’t think everyone who voted Conservative is a racist homophobe but I’m gonna need you to prove that you have love for everyone. I’m also really happy to listen to the reasons why a Tory vote was the vote of choice, is it Johnson, is it Brexit, is it Corbyn, was it the economy? Was it a vote with a heavy heart? Too many of our children are starving, does this even matter? 😢 I’m hoping it does, coz if so there is still hope for us all. . . . #newdawnnewday #hope #whatnow
These are my people. This is what hope for everyone looks like. I believe we can have a kinder society where people are paid what they are worth, where children can go to bed with their bellies full in their own bed, where the police and fire services are not operating on goodwill, where the NHS is properly funded, for our European friends who call the UK home to feel valued, for our Windrush elders to be respected and for a green policy that might actually work and we can keep our politics democratic. And if you can’t vote Labour vote anything but Tory. Read the manifestos. Remember the Tory’s said the NHS couldn’t be done when Labour introduced it, they did and we’ve all benefited ever since. Thanks 😘 . . . #votelabour #votetactically #politicsispersonal
How pretty are the rooftops of Venice? I watched a documentary about how the city was built; it stands on thousands and thousands of wooden pegs bored deep into the hard rock of the lagoon. Now that takes some vision and some might to build! I do hope that the Italian and local Venetian governments do what they should do to preserve this city. If it’s allowed to crumble it would be a crime. Sometimes governments have to get past just wanting to make money and invest in the future even if they won’t be around to benefit from it, running a society is not the same a running a business. . . . #venice #veniceitaly #visionary #windowsofinstagram #pinkcity #rooftop #vote
