Before the flood I went to visit Thomas and Jane Carlyle’s, Chelsea home. Thomas was a hugely influential Scottish essayist, historian and philosopher. Jane was a prolific letter writer and through her letters we have rare insight into her middle class world. Such a slice of Victorian life and when Chelsea was nice but not fancy.
I completely misjudged how hot it would be this morning when we went for a walk - we had water, it was 10.00 am.
Bring your bathers. Outside The Hayward Gallery on the South Bank has plenty water for everyone.
